Knitters Tarot Tuesday reading

Eight of cups

For knitting this week, the eight of cups can signify, a need to change your project, maybe advance to a more difficult one or technique. Or cast on to something new on your needles.

On the Eight of Cups, we see a man leaving on a journey. He has turned away from his old feelings (cups/river) to strike out on a new path. Sometimes moving on can mean searching for a deeper truth or reality. One day we wake up and realize that we have been asleep in our own lives - living a dream that no longer satisfies.

Some changes can be wearying. Endings are not always easy. One of the signs of a readiness to leave is lack of energy. When you feel tired and dispirited, you know that something is wrong, and it's time for a new direction. Reexamine your life and your priorities. You will find where in your life you need to move on.

The Tarot is a deck of cards that originated over 500 years ago in northern Italy. Although the Tarot was first used in a game called Triumphs, it was quickly adopted as a tool for divination, and popularized by occult societies such as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. The early Tarot symbolism was deeply rooted in Medieval and Renaissance Europe.

Today, the Tarot is far and away the most popular tool for spiritual introspection in the West.

Enjoy your knitting this week!

May you needles fly as fast as dragonflies

  1. Really nice description of this Tarot card. I think it never hurts to examine where we are in life and if we need to change course.

Does this mean I can cast on something new?
