Catch up

In the dog days of summer in this part of the country, I find myself staying inside and sewing or knitting, and now spinning. Yes making my carbon footprint even larger, turning the AC up and getting out that large quilt, or sweater that has been half finished. It seems I can find the warmest, (hottest) item to work on, and of course will need to have it on my lap to start working on it. This always amuses my family. Over the years I have finished a California King quilt, (large and hot), a Fisherman's cable sweater, (this was early on in my serious knitting and I was determine to make this), a sweater coat for myself, (which is so hot I seldom wear it out in the winter) and numerous other projects. Maybe I am trying to fool myself into pretending it is cooler out. I guess it is a reverse hibernation of sorts. Turn the air down, put on a movie, or ipod and cocoon into my projects. Stay cool, get those needles out and make something.... Technorati Tags: Catch up

Check out her link and video, even if you are not planning on buying one it is interesting. My roving came from Etsy, I bought it from Cjkopeccreations.etsy.com . It is very soft, I can't wait to get started on it. Almost done with this, just putting the ruffle on. Sursa Shawl, look here for more variations.   This is how far I have gotten on the Lola Bunny Love , I am having fun knitting this. I am planning on getting the face on this weekend. Was planning on using child safe locking eyes and nose, but after some consideration, remembered that the sister of the baby I am making it for, has the record at the local ER for removin...

Evidently the origins of spinning fiber to make string or yarn are lost in time, traced back as far as the Upper Paleolithic era, which is over 20,000 years ago. How fitting that when spinning, we also get lost in time. I am just learning, slow and clumsy. Yet, while sitting in the living room, as my DH watches TV, reads or draws, I...
