Knitter's Tarot Tuesday Reading...

Knitting Tarot card for this week...   The Ten of Swords Represents being "pinned down", and helplessness, the dark clouds, a bleak situation, this card is the most grim card in the deck. However the golden sky in the distance signifies a brighter horizon. This week, perhaps we should lay our knitting aside and meditation on any difficulties you are having. Until the knitting clouds blow over.   The Tarot is a deck of cards that originated over 500 years ago in northern Italy. Although the Tarot was first used in a game called Triumphs , it was quickly adopted as a tool for divination, and popularized by occult societies such as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn . The early Tarot symbolism was deeply rooted in Medieval and Renaissance Europe. Today, the Tarot is far and away the most popular tool for spiritual introspection in the West. Felt Tote Fall Organizer Bag

Here is my first felt tote bag, easy and fun! I added little embroidery floss crosses on the handles, to match the stitching around the pieces. Print fabric, pumpkins and fall leaves I added organizer pockets, one with three spaces on one side, and a single larger one on the other. Here is the link if you are interested in making one of these. While looking around I found a few other cute things to make: Bathina bag Variation The Beer Sweater by Melissa Martensen Craftster. org a list of tutorials of all kinds, including a whole list for purses and wallets. Felt Tote bag

I found this link from someone's blog. I apologize that I can't remember who. I saw the tutorial and got crazy. Now I am about halfway done with my first tote, my sewing machine has been idle for so long, it is good to be humming along with it. Of course when I went to buy the fabric, remnants of course to save money, Ha. I ended up with 3 different pieces and enough felt for about 4 totes! Thinking to myself, "self, this would be some good presents for someone I'm sure". The bag is fun to make, and quick. I like finding the fabric and matching it with felt to make a good "look" on the cheap. I plan to add some pockets on the inside of mine. So I hope there will be more totes to show you soon! Thanks to Johanna! Enjoy your weekend! Technorati Tags: Felt tote bag tutorial link

Crochet basket or bowl tutorial

If you know me you may recall the all encompassing "ditty bag" marathon, that took me by storm. Now, in turn I am becoming obsessed with crochet bowls or baskets. This one is about the size of a CD, and fits in my hand. These are easy to make and fun to fill. All you need is: A small amount of yarn (depending on the size of the bowl you want to make) Able to crochet, only single crochet, chain, and reverse single crochet is needed. Crochet hook, I like to use about a size I or J for worsted wt yarn, use smaller if you wish your bowl to be more firm. Any size yarn can be used, read the label and it will give a suggestion as to the size of hook you need. If you want to make your bowl super strong, some white glue, (like elmers) and water. Or firm but not super stiff, spray starch, These previous two will wash out if you don't like them. For a permanent result use  commercial fabric stiffener, found in most fabric stores.
