Wouldn't you like to be knitting here?

May you knitting needles fly as fast as dragonflies...

What kind of frogger are you?

Everyone who knits frogs, why do you? I tend to frog when I don’t think the yarn, needles or pattern are not working to my satisfaction. Not when I’ve made an error. I like to think I creatively incorporate my errors into my patterns. I like to let mistakes lie for a bit, let your knitting sit overnight, often in the middle of the night, or during a dog walk, I can come up with a improvisation to allow me to continue. If the error is not obvious to anyone but me, I often let it go. Can I make it into part of the pattern, add some design, or shaping? Or just outright ignoring it, especially if in an underarm or other inconspicuous area. I even found a dropped stitch once that I couldn’t ladder back up and tacked it down. I also take into account how far along I am, if not far, well I’ll rip it out, almost done. Start thinking creatively. Of course if you are going to “see” the mistake every time you look at your item. Definitely rip it out and fix the problem we must be at p

Knitted wire birdhouse #2 for under $3.00

After my first attempt at a knitted wire birdhouse, see pattern link on sidebar, I decided to try another. They are easy quick and fun, and I’m starting a series of them now. Knitted Wire Birdhouse #2 Using size 13 needles And 26 Gauge Floral Wire , I used silver approx .94 cents Two sheets of Foamies , choose your color (9 x 12 inch sheet) approx .65 cents each Optional: crochet hook, size K, (any large size will do, gauge not important) Warning: Please be careful of wire, it is sharp and can poke you, causing injury. Ouch.. Cast on 25 sts, loosely, I used the single cast on. Knit every row. The house is constructed with the cast on and bind off edges, being in the front and this will form the entry hole. While knitting you have to stretch out the wire and smooth in down, it will be very stretchy. When you reach your desired length pull and flatten it down. Similar to “blocking” Knit until it measures approx. 12 inches. You can turn the piece around and se

No Monkey Butt here

Living in southern Indiana is a fun experience, we are just 5 miles north of Kentucky. When we moved here it took a bit to get accustomed to the culture. The people are friendly and warm. When passing anyone in a car you usually get a nod or a wave. This area has a large population of German Catholics, it embraces its history and people with festivals, churches, schools, and lots of good food. The area was rich in farming when we moved here, but like anything else, that has changed. So many farm fields are now housing developments. I miss driving down roads that had corn like a wall on each side and plenty of birds, possums, raccoons and deer. We are in a valley surrounded by three rivers. the Ohio, the Green and the Wabash. Often referred to as River City or much less kindly, the armpit of Indiana, that is from a ENT doc. (we all have sinus problems here) Upon moving here we learned that we MUST go to Rural King , everyone shops there. You can get your horse tack, ammo, ti

Time flies

Add some spray paint and a new back ground, spaceship and a plant. Now you can see time flies, but don’t know how fast. I have been neglecting my blog reading. Things that have kept me busy: 1. Frogging my lace shawl, I have been looking at this and doing a lot of sighing. I finally decided that I would frog it and make something else with the yarn. I’m thinking toe up socks, I like this pattern from Wendy Knits . It is a simple pattern and I need to make a fast pair of socks. I switched to a hand spun yarn that a friend of mine spun, and I have had for a time, waiting to use it. Crap, now that I see the pics, I think the original looks pretty good. 2. Still slowly knitting on my purse to be felted from Bags that Rock book. 3. Had a soap cozy marathon one night while mindlessly watching TV. 4. Primarily I am in a yarn work mania, it has been three years since I have gotten into the beds and properly weeded, planted and mulched. My nails and

What I’m up to

Some inspiration from a glue page, thanks Paula the Quilter !! One of the nice things about knitting is that you can forget any “I need to be right crap” It can just unfold as it will, you can change the pattern, make one of your own, yes, and even frog it. There is no “wrong” way to do it. I think there will be someone out there that sweater will fit. Or maybe your felted purse will turn into a iPod cozy. There doesn’t have to be any “rules”, so let your hair down, go sit in the sun, put on some music and pick up those sticks and get some pretty yarn. I’m making another felted bag, I hope this one turns out a good size. I am using The Propeller Pattern from Bag that Rock by Kelley Deal . But I’m modifying it some, by using two colors and I am going to do the duplicate stitch propellers in the opposite colors, of the area that they land on, so each propeller will be two colors. Lost?? More photos soon. Made another wire bird house, pattern to follow…. And have b
