And the Tour de Fleece Begins!

I have spindle, roving and I'm off, hopefully not to be caught up in a pileup! Although anything is possible. Today consisted of a lot of work, because I need to pay my bills and hopefully there is a Spinning Wheel in my future. Going to a girlfriends dog show... And now I will spin!!! My roving is from cjkopeccreations.etsy.com , which is divine!  I'm already looking at more. Spindle made by my DH. bless his heart. He is a carpenter, wonder when I should tell him I'm sending for plans for a wheel? Giggles. And the Tour De Fleece Begins ! Celebrate!

Catch up

In the dog days of summer in this part of the country, I find myself staying inside and sewing or knitting, and now spinning. Yes making my carbon footprint even larger, turning the AC up and getting out that large quilt, or sweater that has been half finished. It seems I can find the warmest, (hottest) item to work on, and of course will need to have it on my lap to start working on it. This always amuses my family. Over the years I have finished a California King quilt, (large and hot), a Fisherman's cable sweater, (this was early on in my serious knitting and I was determine to make this), a sweater coat for myself, (which is so hot I seldom wear it out in the winter) and numerous other projects. Maybe I am trying to fool myself into pretending it is cooler out. I guess it is a reverse hibernation of sorts. Turn the air down, put on a movie, or ipod and cocoon into my projects. Stay cool, get those needles out and make something.... Technorati Tags: Catch up

Spinning update..

I am actually using this spindle as a supported spindle, I have my eye on some Spindle Bowls from the Knit Witch .   Doing fairly well with this spindle has excellent balance, got this from Hatchtown Farm Yes, I couldn't resist, I bought the Spindolyn, I love it, it only took about 15 min to get the hang of it. Check out her link and video, even if you are not planning on buying one it is interesting. My roving came from Etsy, I bought it from Cjkopeccreations.etsy.com . It is very soft, I can't wait to get started on it. Almost done with this, just putting the ruffle on. Sursa Shawl, look here for more variations.   This is how far I have gotten on the Lola Bunny Love , I am having fun knitting this. I am planning on getting the face on this weekend. Was planning on using child safe locking eyes and nose, but after some consideration, remembered that the sister of the baby I am making it for, has the record at the local ER for removing

Spinning Wool

Check this You Tube Video out.....Kay Anderson shows us how wool is spun the traditional way in Scotland... I love the video, the water, the rhythm, the flow, I think it captures the spinning feeling.... Here is her You Tube Page if you want to check out more videos... Enjoy

Wouldn't you like to be knitting here...
