Yoga and knitting

I have started a Yoga class! I have taken yoga off and on for years. And tried a few kinds. Mostly whatever class I could find. Yoga is a binding together of the body, mind and spirit. The ultimate goal is the union of the individual's consciousness with the infinite consciousness. Al though it can be practiced religiously each day, yoga is not a religion. This one is Kundalini yoga. Kundalini, which incorporates mantras (chanting), meditations, visualizations, and guided relaxation. It focuses on healing and "purifying" the mind, body, and emotions. Kundalini yoga is designed to activate the kundalini energy in the spine. This is achieved with poses, breath control, chanting, and meditation. Kundalini yoga is beneficial in dealing with addictions, and many people find it a natural way of releasing endorphins just by breathing and doing the poses. Kundalini yoga consists of poses combined with breath control, hand and finger gestures, body locks, chanting

Wouldn't you like to be knitting here...

May your needles fly as fast as dragonflies.... I'm doing a craft show this weekend, just going with the idea to have fun and meet some people. With the economy the way it is, I'm not expecting too much.

Stop and Listen

The above was taken in New Mexico This is why spinning is a good thing. +It makes you stop thinking 1000 thoughts all at once. +You get a sense of achievement, after all, no one I actually know locally spins. +You start really looking at yarn in a different way +I like how I can admire the yarn I just spun as I am adding it to the spindle. +People look at you really strange, if you do it in public, but everyone wants to ask you a question after watching for awhile +You can take your spindle anywhere, well almost +The creativity, spin thick or thin, or thick and thin. Ply odd stuff in, (see Pluckyfluff) , dye it before or after, mix your fibers..... +It's a challenge, especially in the beginning +And it's fun +When you are done and decide to knit it, knitting seems to go really FAST... +I think it rocks the soul and lowers your blood pressure (I'm positive it must) So get some fiber and  a spindle, or like I did for years, get a book and read a

Knitter's Tarot Tuesday Reading

The Hanged Man This is a great card to draw for a knitter, this week you can let go and expect a divine inspiration to flow from your fingers. Let go of what you are struggling with and you will see new ways to solve the problem lace pattern or sleeve you have been struggling with. The Hanged Man is serenely handing from live tree by one foot, with a halo-like light around his head. He has sacrificed a desire for control over his circumstances in order to gain an understanding of, creative energies far greater than his individual self. In letting go, we gain a profound perspective The Tarot is a deck of cards that originated over 500 years ago in northern Italy. Although the Tarot was first used in a game called Triumphs , it was quickly adopted as a tool for divination, and popularized by occult societies such as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn . The early Tarot symbolism was deeply rooted in Medieval and Renaissance Europe. Today, the Tarot is far and away the mo

Alpacas, sheep and knitting, oh my..

Last weekend I made a journey to a fiber festival. Lots of fun. I found some things to buy, tried out some wheels. My favorite wheel was a Lendrum. But I discovered something funny about myself. I went to, of course buy fiber and yarn, but I also was shopping for a wheel. I sat and tried quite a few. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I decided I liked the Lendrum best. But......right now, I think I like spinning with a spindle. I am always trying to slow down. My job is so fast paced, and as I started trying to spin on a wheel, I just thought about how fast I could go. Then I started looking at spindles and trying them out and it felt good and right. I discovered that I want a wheel, but right now, what I need is to spin on a spindle. With that said check out my booty: Yes, as you will notice, no yarn, so I better get busy with my spindle, giggles. May your needles fly as fast as dragonflies...

Knitters Tarot Tuesday reading

Eight of cups   For knitting this week, the eight of cups can signify, a need to change your project, maybe advance to a more difficult one or technique. Or cast on to something new on your needles. On the Eight of Cups, we see a man leaving on a journey. He has turned away from his old feelings (cups/river) to strike out on a new path. Sometimes moving on can mean searching for a deeper truth or reality. One day we wake up and realize that we have been asleep in our own lives - living a dream that no longer satisfies. Some changes can be wearying. Endings are not always easy. One of the signs of a readiness to leave is lack of energy. When you feel tired and dispirited, you know that something is wrong, and it's time for a new direction. Reexamine your life and your priorities. You will find where in your life you need to move on.   The Tarot is a deck of cards that originated over 500 years ago in northern Italy. Although the Tarot was first used in a game calle

Spinning tools

I have been in a creative frenzy. And have decided I need to get back to my spinning.... Cross patch, draw the latch,   Sit by the fire and spin; Take a cup and drink it up,   Then call your neighbors in. There....that's better.. I started displaying all of my spinning tools on a table. It makes me smile as I pass by. Making a winter scarf for my girlfriend, good mindless knitting... May your needles fly as fast as dragonflies...
